Prior to beginning at Oregon, Lia completed her Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was advised by Prof. Danielle Bassett. She is interested in utilizing biophysically-motivated models to study the collective activity patterns exhibited by large neural populations, and to understand the consequences of those dynamics for neural function.
